This Business Wasn't Built in a Boardroom

I'm a tradesman. I've been one for 36 years. I hold a Washington State Master Electrician license โ€” the highest credential the state issues. I spent three years as a Certified Electrical Inspector for the City of Vancouver, with the authority to pass or fail electrical work across residential, commercial, and industrial projects. I've managed quality assurance programs on large-scale construction sites. I've seen every kind of electrical failure there is โ€” and I've fixed most of them.

But SafeGuard didn't start because of a credential. It started because of something I kept seeing.

I'd walk into a home โ€” usually belonging to someone in their 60s or 70s, living in a nice community โ€” and I'd notice the smoke detector on the ceiling. Chirping. Battery dead. Sometimes it had been chirping for weeks. Sometimes they'd taken it down and put it in a drawer because they couldn't reach it. Sometimes there was no detector at all.

These weren't careless people. These were smart, capable homeowners who had simply reached a point where climbing a ladder wasn't safe โ€” and they didn't know who to call for something that small.

SafeGuard exists to solve that problem. And dozens of others like it.

The Difference Between a Checkmark and Real Protection

Anyone can walk through a house with a clipboard. What matters is what they actually know โ€” and whether they can spot the things that don't show up on a standard checklist.

With 36 years of field experience, Dan doesn't just glance at your electrical panel โ€” he inspects it with the eye of a Master Electrician and former government inspector. He knows what a failing breaker looks like before it trips. He knows which connections loosen over time and which ones hold. He can tell you whether your panel is safe for another decade โ€” or a liability waiting to happen.

When Dan installs a Flo by Moen leak detection system, it's not a side job โ€” it's a professionally installed, integrated safeguard backed by someone who understands your home's full electrical and mechanical picture. When he issues a Certificate of Inspection, it carries the weight of real expertise โ€” the kind insurance companies and HOA boards recognize.

Not a checklist. Real expertise.

Credentials That Matter

The qualifications behind every SafeGuard inspection.

Master Electrician

The Master Electrician certification is the highest credential issued by the State of Washington. It requires thousands of hours of supervised work, rigorous examination, and ongoing education. A fraction of one percent of electricians in the state hold this license. It means Dan doesn't just install โ€” he understands the full engineering behind every system in your home.

3 Years as a Government Electrical Inspector

Dan served as a Certified Electrical Inspector for the City of Vancouver, WA. That means he had the legal authority to pass or fail electrical work across residential, commercial, and industrial projects. He's seen what bad work looks like โ€” and what happens when it's missed. That city-level perspective is now working for you.

QA/QC Construction Manager

Quality Assurance and Quality Control isn't just a buzzword โ€” it's a discipline. Dan has managed construction quality programs that demand documented, repeatable processes. Every SafeGuard inspection follows the same rigorous protocol, every time. Nothing gets skipped. Nothing gets glossed over.

36 Years of Field Experience

There is no substitute for time. Dan has spent 36 years working inside homes, crawling through attics, diagnosing panels, troubleshooting circuits, and solving problems other electricians walk away from. That experience shows up in every inspection โ€” in what he notices, what he tests, and what he recommends.

Proud to Serve Clark County

SafeGuard Protection Services is based in Vancouver, Washington โ€” and that's by design. Dan Hogan was born on Main Street in downtown Vancouver and has lived in Clark County his entire life. He knows this community because he's part of it.

This isn't a franchise. There's no call center. When you schedule a SafeGuard inspection, Dan shows up. He knows your neighborhood. He understands the local codes, the regional climate challenges, and the specific needs of the 55+ communities he serves. That kind of personal accountability is something a national brand can never offer.
